The Solomon Interviews Part II

Summary: A dramatisation of Ecclesiastes 2:1-11. This was originally written to support How To Handle Money; part of a series we did based on Challenging Lifestyles by Nicky Gumble.
Bible Reference: Ecclesiastes 2:1-11
Characters: Interviewer, King Solomon
Props: Couch
Setting: A chat show. It should be introduced as the second in a series. (Currently there is no Part 1)
Interviewer: Last week we heard about your great search for the meaning of life, how you tried to be wise, but found that wasn't enough. Can you tell us what you did after that?
Solomon: I decided to enjoy myself in every kind of pleasure.
Interviewer: That sounds good. What did you find out?
Solomon: I discovered that laughter was foolish and that pleasure does no good.
Interviewer: What did you do then?
Solomon: I went to a party and got drunk.
Interviewer: Did that help?
Solomon: No.
Interviewer: So what did you do next in your great search for meaning?
Solomon: I decided to become rich. I built all kinds of buildings, had vineyards dug. I piled up gold and silver in such huge quantities you could not believe. No one in Jerusalem before or since was as rich as me.
Interviewer: How did that make you feel?
Solomon: It was a waste of time. I just stayed awake at night worrying that thieves might steal everything. Nor will wealth help me when I die. It was useless, like chasing the wind.
Interviewer: Thank you King Solomon. I thought you were supposed to be wise? Perhaps if you had used you wealth to help others things might have been better?
